In 2011, after starting his career, he worked in the fields of bankruptcy and insolvency law, labor law, commercial law, law of obligations, law of contracts, and then turned to tax law and gained experience in this field.
Since 2017, he has been practicing law independently and has been working mainly in the field of tax law and commercial law at Ankalex Attorney Partnership, where he is a partner, providing solutions to disputes between taxpayers and tax authorities and providing preventive consultancy services for companies.

He is an expert mediator in five areas (commercial law, labor law, consumer law, insurance law, banking and finance law). As of 2024, he has conducted mediation activities in more than 1000 disputes and continues his mediation activities within Anka Mediation Center, where he is a partner and chairman of the board of directors.

Emre Burak Onat has been an Independent Board Member since 2022 at Gimat Mağazacılık İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., which was established in 2015 and later became a “Publicly Traded Company”. He was proposed by the management and approved by the CMB and elected as an independent member of the Board of Directors at the General Assembly of the Company. Within the scope of his responsibilities in the company, he continues to serve as the chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee and as a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Education
Ankara University
Founded in 1946, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law, one of the most well-established and successful law faculties in Turkey, as the 742nd in Turkey and graduated from the faculty in 2011.
Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University
In 2016, he was accepted to the Master's Program in Public Law. He gave the Master's courses he chose in the field of tax law but could not complete his thesis, then continued his education in 2022 and graduated from the master's program.
Hacettepe University
In 2020, he won the Public Law Master's Program exam and took graduate courses at Hacettepe University between 2020-2022. Later, he transferred to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and continued his master's education there.
Minsk State Linguistic University
He studied Russian Language at the Minsk State Language University in Minsk, Belarus, one of the best language universities in the country, in 2011-2012. He continues to work on legal Russian and provides services to his clients in Russian.

Emre Burak Onat is the Vice President of the Legal Platform at the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Foundation (TÜSAİV). In 2020, TÜSİAV organized the Panel on Current Problems and Future of Mediation in cooperation with Ankara University. Within the scope of his duty, he develops activities and projects in cooperation with other NGOs in order to increase legal awareness in the society and the development of law.
